Sabres look for a big start, but come up short.

Third jerseys and a 6'8" defenseman:

What more could they need?

Puck luck? Less lively boards? (Props to Gionta's hands.) Scoring on two of their 35 shots?

I thought Meyers and Kennedy both played great. But the same old "shoot it directly into the goalie's chest/pads" routine from the usual suspects is getting old.

Still, a great effort, a lot more heart and passion, which hopefully will bode well for the season.

Both Montreal goals were garbage.
