What A Little Ingenuity Looks Like

Seeing as how the chances we're going to get a quality gold third jersey are slim to none, a friend of mine took matters into his own hands to produce his own! Using the Wolverines gold jersey as a base, he made a number of customizations. First, he added the classic crest and shoulder B patches. Then, he added the NHL badge and laces to the collar. Finally, he custom-made a lettering set to turn it into a Perreault jersey. The finishing touch was a Reebok "Vector" badge on the back of the collar to give it a legit look.

Here's some pictures of it:

So, whatdya guys think?

That works better than I thought it would. Not too shabby. Gold is a tough color to make work. But the Bruins did it masterfully with their Winter Classic jerseys, so it can be done.

I've always liked the idea of a gold third jersey. I've posted a gold version of the 2000-06 red third that I would be all for. The one problem that I do see is picking a blue that doesn't look black. The current thirds (next year's homes) already look a bit black on TV sometimes and the stripes on this concept do, too.

I think the blues hold up nicely on TV. The sleeves on the slug whites though definitely appear black most of the time on TV.

It depends on the camera. The main action shots often make them look black and orange, while the closeups on the bench, etc., look more blue and gold. I would like them to be a shade or two lighter blue. Still closer to navy than royal, but more clearly blue.

It's alright the blue strip looks black other than that it's o.k.
