Ding, dong, the Slug is dead ...

(Observation: brand labels on pants for all three uniforms. I believe that the previous third jerseys were all just Reebok shells over the top. Does mean that these are actually different pants or, at least, the normal shell is swapped for each rather than covered up by an outer shell? No navy blue pants poking out of the bottom on the third uniforms.)

I don't even know where to begin. These are absolutely AMAZING. This is what they should have been wearing since day 1 of the slug fiasco. Those whites look breath-taking on the ice. Even the swapped waist stripe doesn't look out of place. I really am floored.

And those thirds!!! Oh my god. Better than I could have ever hoped.

FINALLY. Let's go Buffalo!!!

I agree with you Drew - finally the horrible slug is gone, the original logo is back and should have NEVER, NEVER of left all those years ago. The new whites and the 3rd jersey are sharp- looking and awesome. Today was a day that took far too long in coming but thank God it finally came. Long live the Sabres!!!

Six words: vertical stripes on the 3rd's pants!

Just like the originals. :)

I think I'll like the thirds more when the whole team is wearing them rather than mixed in with the navy, but I definitely like the whites now. Obviously, there are some small things that I'd change, but they're close enough to make me much, much happier.

To answer your question almost every team in the NHL uses shells over their pants because equipment companies cannot make pants with designs for every team in the NHL. It is easier for companies to brand shells and send them into the team. If you pay close attention to opposing teams you notice that they all use shells. Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Edmonton are most the noticeable pant shells for their extravagant color schemes and designs.

Flyer fan here, but also a slug hater. Congratulations on finally getting rid of that damn thing. Your uni's look like they should now. Like the 3rd too.
